CASE STUDY

Midanbury Lane, Southampton

St. Arthur Homes were approached by Crayfern Homes, an established, Hampshire-based developer who have built a reputation for high quality developments.

Crayfern Homes’ Midanbury Lane development consisted of nine units, with an affordable housing requirement of a single two-bedroom property. With just a single unit available, the larger Registered Providers were not interested in acquiring the property.

Keen to fulfil their s106 obligation, Crayfern Homes approached. St Arthur Homes, having been made aware of our specialism in smaller numbers of affordable housing units. Following swift discussions, we acquired the property with the full co-operation and support of Southampton City Council. The property was effectively marketed through Help to Buy South and a buyer was quickly identified who acquired a 50% shared ownership stake in the property.

Following the transaction, Southampton City Council expressed their delight with the service provided by St Arthur Homes. We now enjoy a close working relationship and are actively working on a number of additional sites introduced to us by the council directly.

"We have been delighted to work with St Arthur Homes across several of our residential new homes sites just recently, in order to deliver our affordable housing obligations. In doing so, we have always found them professional, easy to work with and have a positive attitude to drive such acquisitions over the line"
