Adding or removing a leaseholder
You can add or remove another person from the lease register, which is maintained by UK Land Registry, if everyone involved agrees. You’ll need permission from us, and from your lender if you have a mortgage.
A solicitor will help you with the transfer of the lease, so there will be legal costs to pay, as well as any costs included by us.
Process:
• Contact us at sales@starthurhomes.com to request a Transfer of Equity form
• Ask your solicitors to contact us at sales@starthurhomes.com ensuring they include your full name and address.
• We’ll direct them to our solicitors.
• Once the solicitors have received their fees, they’ll produce a notice of transfer.
• If you are also changing your mortgage, you’ll need to get consent to remortgage and we’ll issue a notice of transfer and charge.
• Our solicitors will supply a transfer of equity if it’s required (which is a change in the co-ownership status of a property).
• You or your solicitor must then send these to the Land Registry.
