Job Specification - Financial Controller

Job Overview:

St. Arthur Homes is a Private Registered Provider of affordable housing, under the governance of the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). Due to ongoing expansion, we are looking to recruit a motivated and experienced Financial Controller with a proven track record to join the team at our head office, based in Central London, reporting directly to our CEO.

 

The successful candidate will be instrumental in our growth plan; therefore, we are looking for someone who goes beyond the expected. The responsibilities of the role will include:

 

  • Day to day management of the accounting operations.

  • Creation, coordination, maintenance and preparation of budgets and financial forecast models.

  • Real estate appraisals

  • Preparation of financial statements, periodic reports, and analysis on a scheduled or unprompted basis

  • Preparation of financial and other key performance indicators for internal and external reporting

  • Supporting the month-end, quarterly and year-end financial close

  • Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

  • Providing necessary training and guidance as finance team grows

  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Maintaining accounting software with accurate records and transactions

  • Maintaining and reconciling ledgers and bank accounts

  • Coordinating the year-end audit liaising with external accountants and auditors as required, assist in the preparation of audit schedules, data and information

  • Ensure strong corporate governance practices, complying with all accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven track record as a financial controller

  • ACA or equivalent qualified accountant preferred

  • Residential property experience desirable, experience in a Housing Association environment is also desirable but not essential

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals

  • Auditing experience

  • Compliance orientated

  • Proficiency in accounting software

  • Analytical skills
